Find MP3

I just got a mac computer, how do you Find your mp3 player, or usb hook ups?

It is a older computer but is all updated to Mac OS X. I am new to mac's so i was wondering because when i plug in my mp3 player to the back of the mac it does not pop up on the desktop or in finder???? Is there any way that I can download windows media player for the mac so that the mp3 player will show up, or how can i find it in the hard drive, thanks

1. well it depends on the type of mp3 player. most mp3 players are not supported by Apple directly, because they want people to buy their iPods. but go to the MP3 players manufacturer site, and see if they have any mac drivers for it. either that or your USB port doe snot work. in mac when you plug somehting in via USB, or even a CD it should pop up on the desktop, usually the right side. good luck have fun
